As a guest, it is easy to make smart environmental choices when you dine at a Sodexo café. We know today's college students want to do the right thing for the planet and we also understand you lead busy lives, so your Sodexo chefs and managers do a lot of the work for you behind the scenes!
From purchasing local seasonal produce whenever possible to reducing inorganic and organic waste, your campus team is dedicated to providing you with an exceptional dining experience that is good for you and good for the planet.
This commitment was formalized with Sodexo's Better Tomorrow Plan. The Better Tomorrow Plan includes 14 commitments for a brighter future by focusing on three key priorities: health, community and planet. Learn more about the Better Tomorrow Commitments.
While your Sodexo team works hard behind the scenes, they also count on student engagement and enthusiasm to spread the word about what you're doing together on your campus. We encourage you to work with your local Sodexo management team to continue to innovate and improve sustainability efforts in your community.
If you have additional comments or questions, please contact us. We would love to hear from you.

How You Can Help
You can help us help the environment in a number of ways:
- Take only the number of napkins you need per meal.
- Take only one cup for each beverage purchase.
- Please bring your own reusable tote bag or forego a bag for carry-out items.
- Join our Recycle Mug Program or bring your own mug from home for beverage purchases.
- Take only what you can eat - you can always go back for more.
- Dine in rather than carrying out.
- Refrain from removing dishes from JU Dining locations.
- Choose bulk condiments instead of individually wrapped.
- Forget the straw.
- Recycle aluminum cans, plastic and glass throughout campus at the designated recycling stations as well as at home.
- Report any leaks and drips in sinks, showers, and toilets.
- Recycle your cardboard moving boxes.
- Use compact fluorescent bulbs and turn off the lights when you leave.
- Only wash full loads of clothes and wash in cold water.
- Buy locally whenever you can.
- Get involved! Join the JU Green Team.
Manufacturing Partner
Jacksonville Dining Services partners with various vendors to become more environmentally friendly. Currently, PLA plastics (containers made from corn) are used in most of our take out locations and in our Catering Department. Look on the bottom of the containers and cups for the PLA mark.
